I just watched the first of the PBS craft episodes and thought I would throw this out there to the more proximate or potentially more proximate Dallasites.
My studio is open to any of you. The weaving guild is right around the corner from my house. I have a friend who is an art quilter and my mom (lives around the corner-big Italian family) can quilt.
I have a wheel and a kiln that does glass and clay. Although these were gifts to my children and I have no real expertise with these but they are available for use.
If any of you are interested-- in field trips or getting together to make art/crafts or see art/crafts.
I would be happy to host, help organize, or sit quietly offering snacks and drinks.
I love the idea of a field trip, visiting and seeing your work.

Excellent--Let's make a plan--What are you most interested in?
ReplyDeleteHi Lynn-
DeleteI am finally thinking about your question. Maybe others in the area can visit at the same time. I am interested in trying most activities. Let us know when you feel like visitors and we can try to coordinate something. Meanwhile I am today thinking about clay.
Last Saturday night I attended a Full Moon creative activity at the Dallas Crafts Guild, where all attendees made Chinese Wishing Jars (70 people showed up). It was fun and just working with clay again was neat, especially after reading chapter one and the tile section. I remembered how much I enjoyed my art history and reading about Bas-relief sculpture and thinking how much fun it would be to carve and layer on tiles. So I am trying to sketch some ideas I like. I had not been to the Guild in many years and they had moved to Addison, sharing space with the Addison Welcome Center. I had rejoined as in the past you could join and use the studio facilities and Kiln but I think that now only applies if you also take a course. Anyway that is something I am going to check out.
Another organization Dallas Area Fiber Artists (DAFA) is one that I enjoy the meting , when I can go. They usually have a visiting artist share their art and philosophy, but also members have a show and tell time to share the work and have finished or are working on and it is truly amazing. http://www.dallasfiberartists.org/programs/
Thanks Lynn and if you notice I am not back on the blog. Have no idea what I did or did not do but with Ed's help I am here. Our second book is based on the PBS series. I recommend you watch them if possible. The interviews are wonderfully positive life stories.
